I was in LA recently and stumbled upon the most amazing shop! NecRomance is a boutique on Melrose that specializes in taxidermy. It sells everything from beetle sequins to angel winged mice. There was also a bridal mouse with her groom that I loved. They do mail order too! I'm getting a deer hoof for a door knocker!
If you're disturbed by dead animals posing as flying angels you could always go for a more tasteful work of art by someone like Liz Mcgrath who does tattooed animal sculptures. Adele Mildred also does the cutest animal paintings.
84 year old French philosopher Andre Gorz wrote a love letter to his terminally ill wife , Dorine, which resulted in a bestseller "Lettre a D. Historie d'un Amour". Possibly one of the sweetest reads ever. Anyway, it makes you think.
This is the article if you get the chance to read or go get the book. Tissues to hand!
It’s difficult to have a conversation about the Alexander McQueen SS10 show without someone exclaiming “OMGTHESHOESDIDYOUSEETHESHOES?!”. They are rumoured not to be going into production, but the enigma that is Daphne Guinness, Queen of couture, has managed to get her hands on a pair. Standing at 12 inches tall with a 7 inch heel and 5 inch platform, they are not for the faint hearted…. I want to try a pair just to see if I could walk in them – fashion over function, always.
Of course this is not the first time Daphne has pushed the sartorial boat out.... in Nina Ricci SS09 heel-less wonders..
Theda Bara, the American silent film actress was one of the most popular screen actresses of her era, and was one of cinema's earliest sex symbols. Her femme fatale roles earned her the nickname "The Vamp" (short for vampire) which soon became a popular slang term for a sexually predatory woman.
Theda Bara made more than 40 feature films between 1914 and 1926. Only six of these films still exist in their entirety.
