Venison, formally known as 'The shitty beatles'...

So, the Strokes played a secret gig last Thursday under the pseudonim 'Venison'.  We thought the secret was pretty safe, until we tried to log onto the Dingwalls website at 9.00pm to purchase said £10 tickets and it turns out THE REST OF CAMDEN KNEW!

Try as we might, there was no logging onto the purchase page, despite copious links and URLs being exchanged frantically on instant messenger.

To make matters worse, there is an annoying number of videos on youtube documenting the intimate (500 person!) affair.

Sally Mann finally makes it over the pond for her first uk solo exhibition...

Opening this week is the eagerly anticipated Sally Mann retrospective at the Photographers Gallery, focusing on two of her most famous bodies of work from a career that began in the 1970s.  In 'What Remains' Mann studies decomposing bodies as they melt and meld into the land and 'Immediate Family', undoubtedly Mann's most controversial work in which she photographs her 3 children, sometimes nude against the haunting backdrop of their home farm in the deep south (Lexington,Virginia).  Underpinning her photography is always a sense of death and mortality.

Controversy and provocation aside, her work is always beautiful, awe inspiring and gothic, and I cannot wait for the exhibition to open on the 18th June.
